The Gilroy Unified School District is pleased to welcome two new principals to our leadership team: Camille Epps and Greg Kapaku.  The official announcement was made at the April 23, 2020, GUSD Board Meeting, where both appointments were accepted by the Board.

The onboarding process for each of them has already begun and will continue throughout the summer.  Dr. Deborah A. Flores, Superintendent of the Gilroy Unified School District, remarked, “I am thrilled to welcome both of these principals to our administrative team in their new roles.  Both Camille and Greg bring strong credentials and established relationships to our District.  I am looking forward to seeing how they work collaboratively with their staff and connect with students.”

El Roble Elementary School welcomes Principal Camille Epps.  Camille Epps is originally from Southern California and has worked in California public schools for over 13 years.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from CSU Bakersfield and recently finished her graduate degree in Applied School Leadership from National University.  Camille began her teaching career in Southern California as a kindergarten teacher, moving through other grade levels, and began working in the Gilroy Unified School District five years ago as a 5th grade teacher at Las Animas Elementary School.  She currently works at El Roble Elementary School as a Literacy Facilitator and Academic Coach.  Camille is a proud mother of two daughters at Ascencion Solorsano Middle School and resides in Gilroy.

Gilroy High School welcomes Principal Greg Kapaku. Greg Kapaku is a native of Hawaii and has spent the past 25 years working as an educator in California public schools.  He has served 20 of those years as an administrator.  He earned a B.A. in English Literature from Sonoma State University and secured his M.A. in Educational Leadership from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  Greg began his career in public education as a middle school math and history teacher before moving into administration.  Greg is well-known in our community, having spent 14 years working for Gilroy Unified, serving in various administrative capacities as an Assistant Principal and Principal at South Valley Middle School, and then as an Assistant Principal at Christopher High School for seven years.  Greg currently works in the Campbell Union High School District as an Assistant Principal at Westmont High School.  Greg’s entire family is involved in Gilroy Unified, from his wife Peggy, who teaches at Glen View Elementary School, to his two children, who have both received their education from Gilroy’s amazing teachers.
