Measure M

The Gilroy Unified School District is preparing to modernize school facilities and address urgent facility needs. Through the support of local bond measures, like Measure M, our campuses remain safe, secure, and equipped with up-to-date technology and modern classrooms.

Measure M is a $295 million initiative on the November 2026 ballot.  If passed, funds from Measure M will support existing facilities renovations and new construction throughout the Gilroy Unified School District.  Some top priorities for Measure M funds include:

Four young children are playing in a sandbox in the foreground, while adults and other children are visible in the background on a playground.

Facilities Upgrades for Our Youngest Learners

One possible use of Measure M funds will enhance transitional kinder and kindergarten students' educational experiences by improving aging facilities and transitioning from existing portable classrooms to new state-of-the-art classrooms throughout the District.

In the foreground, two boys are seated at a light-colored, irregularly shaped table, engaged in reading, while in the background, a teacher assists two other students at a similar table in a classroom with blue walls and a large whiteboard.

School Modernization

Another possible use of Measure M funds will target our oldest school sites to elevate current buildings and create new and innovative 21st century learning spaces.

A vibrant green football field with %22GILROY MUSTANGS%22 emblazoned on it sits in the foreground, while a sprawling suburban landscape with trees and buildings stretches into the background.

Enhancing Outdoor Spaces

Another possible use of Measure M funds will identify outside areas at our schools in need of enhancement. This includes installation of shade structures, improvements to athletics stadiums and other outdoor spaces.

Focus on Career Technical Education

Measure M funds would help develop Career Technical Education (CTE) facilities at Gilroy High School for culinary arts, welding and HVAC. These modern spaces would provide cutting-edge hands-on training and career preparation.

Facilities Master Plan

In 2025, Gilroy Unified and industry experts developed a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (FMP).

A FMP is a strategic, long-term blueprint that assesses the educational adequacy of every campus, evaluates structural conditions, identifies critical infrastructure needs, and incorporates input from the community to align our facility investments with our educational goals and priorities of our community.
