Trustee Tuyen Fiack

Tuyen Fiack

Tuyen Fiack was elected to the Gilroy Unified Board of Education in November 2018. Tuyen was born in Vietnam and fled to the United States at the age of three with her family right before the fall of Saigon.  After a few years in Waterloo, Iowa, her family moved to San Jose for the sunny weather, diversity and job opportunities. Tuyen grew up in the Bay Area and studied Business Administration at San Jose State University.

Tuyen began her career as a Juvenile Hall Counselor in Butte County, helping children in the justice system learn coping skills, effective communication, and self-care.  During her tenure at Butte County, she implemented annual sports activities between minors and staff, created weekly caseload discussion groups for female minors in custody and assisted with staff training on policies and procedures.

Tuyen’s career has encompassed various industries including government, technology, insurance and healthcare. She has over 15 years of business development experience and corporate management and has a wealth of knowledge in strategic partnerships, contract negotiations, operational efficiencies, organizational growth and social-emotional learning.  She is currently the Executive Director of Silicon Valley FACES, a non-profit with a mission to build inclusive communities free of bias, bigotry and violence through educational programs and advocacy, which aligns with her passion towards a more equitable future for our youth.

Tuyen’s work in the community has encompassed working with the YWCA on their Stand Against Racism rally, the City of Morgan Hill’s Inclusive Morgan Hill Campaign, Silicon Valley Reads panel discussion on “Recognizing Our Wrongs,” NAACP Youth Council Leadership Program, and guest speaker at high schools and universities on Restorative Practice.  In addition, she served as the President of Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers for five years, implementing programs such as Campus Crime Stoppers and working with law enforcement and city officials to promote safety awareness programs throughout Santa Clara County.

Tuyen is a loving wife and mother of two children, one of which will be a Gilroy High School graduate in 2021 and looks forward to helping our youth become 21st century global citizens.
