PAR (Peer Assistance and Review)

Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) is a program that allows experienced teachers to assist permanent and beginning teachers in the areas of subject matter knowledge, teaching strategies and instructional methodologies.  The program assists three types of teachers: teachers new to Gilroy Unified, those who volunteer and those who are referred to the program by their administrators.  PAR is currently supporting 57 teachers during the 2008 - 09 school year in areas that support several education concerns.  These include an effective teacher evaluation system and improved teacher professional development.  There is also strong support for beginning teachers who need opportunities to problem solve and make choices in order to develop and thrive.  All program participants are viewed as valuable professionals who deserve to have the best resources provided to them in the interest of creating a professional collaborative culture that promotes the highest possible quality of instruction for students.
