Board of Education Redistricting process
The Gilroy Unified School District Board of Trustees is making changes to how Gilroy residents vote for Board members.
Beginning in 2020, Board of Trustees will be by trustee area, instead of the current at-large citywide elections in which all voters have the ability to vote for all Board seats. The change in the election system will have no effect on school attendance boundaries. Each Board member will fulfill their current term. This new form of representation will bring the District into compliance with the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA).
The District is embarking on a public outreach effort to explain how Board members will be elected in the November 2020 elections.
We need your help to make this change!
The primary goal when drawing Board election districts is to draw lines that keep neighborhoods together. So, GUSD wants to know: what do you consider the boundaries of your neighborhood?
