For immediate release: GUSD and GTA reach a Tentative Agreement

Gilroy, CA – The Gilroy Teachers Association (GTA) and the Gilroy Unified School District (District) are pleased to announce that we have reached a Tentative Agreement. Both negotiating teams worked very hard to reach this agreement and are pleased to have reached an agreement that improves salaries and benefits.  The details of the agreement will be presented to GTA​ membership in a general meeting on Tuesday, April 22, and will be presented to the Board of Education in a Board meeting on May 8, 2025 at 7:00 pm.

The major terms of the agreement include:

  • 2.5% salary increase retroactive to July 1, 2024
  • District will cover the increased costs of the health benefits which went into effect on January 1, 2025
  • Establishment of a Special Education Assessment Team
  • Second Preparation period for RSP teachers at the high schools
  • Increases in the stipends for Special Education Teachers and Middle School Chairpersons
  • Guaranteed prep time for Lit Facilitators
  • Improvements to the transfer procedures and timelines

Additionally, several sections of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) were refined and improved. The teams also agreed to a two-year term for the CBA with re-openers on salary, health benefits and other key provisions for 2025-2026.
