Board of Education appoints Anthony Fuccella as new Brownell Principal

At the June 8 special meeting, the GUSD Board of Education appointed Anthony Fuccella as the new principal of Brownell Middle School.  

Mr. Fuccella began his public school career in 2007 as a Physical Education teacher at Solorsano Middle School, where he dedicated 14 years to teaching and building strong relationships with students and families. He then transitioned into school leadership and has served as Assistant Principal at Solorsano Middle School for the past five years.

He earned his bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from San José State University and later completed his master’s degree in Educational Leadership and administrative credential through National University.

A longtime educator and leader within the district, Mr. Fuccella is committed to fostering a positive school culture, supporting student success, and building strong partnerships with staff, students, and families. Outside of school, he enjoys photographing his children’s sporting events and local birdlife. He and his wife, a Physical Education teacher in San Jose, are proud parents of three children, ages 9, 12, and 14.

Mr. Fuccella will officially begin in his new position on July 1, 2026.
