Negotiations and Budget Information
The Gilroy Unified School District has been involved in the collective bargaining process with the Gilroy Teachers Association (GTA) — the union representing GUSD teachers — for over eight months in an effort to negotiate a new labor contract. We are now engaged in the state’s impasse resolution procedures and have met with a state mediator over two days. The Board of Education and district administrative leaders believe that all stakeholders in the education community should have access to accurate, timely, complete and factual information. There is a lot at stake in these negotiations that will affect students, employees, parents, and our community.
The following charts provide important information related to the GUSD budget such as enrollment projections, birth rate data and enrollment history. The district's funding is directly related to student enrollment. Data is also included about impacts to the budget of the CalSTRS increase in the district's contribution to STRS and PERS.
Following each session in the negotiations process, Superintendent Flores provides a District update to GTA members, certificated staff and management staff. This update provides staff with the status of negotiations and next steps
