Trustee Mark W. Good
Mark Good was first elected to the Gilroy Unified Board of Education in 1996 and is currently serving his fifth term in office. He served as board president in 2013-2014, 2019-2021. He represents the newly formed Trustee Area 2.
Mr. Good is the owner of the Law Office of Mark W. Good in Gilroy. His practice is primarily in the areas of intellectual property law, real estate and business litigation, trade secret disputes, trademark, copyright, computer and Internet law, and entertainment law. He has also represented public sector employees in employment disputes including issues involving top-secret clearance.
Previously, he was a partner and member of the Intellectual Property, Commercial Law and Real Estate Litigation Practice Groups at Terra Law LLP. Before working at Terra Law, he was associated with the boutique Intellectual Property law firm of Davis & Schroeder, and worked at Roberts & Elliott LLP, starting its Intellectual Property law section. Mr. Good attended law school after retiring as a police sergeant, during which time he supervised investigations, police reserves and the tactical team.
Mr. Good is an adjunct professor of law at Lincoln Law School and a founding member of the Intellectual Property Clinic at Lincoln Law School in San Jose, California. The IP Clinic is the first patent and trademark clinic in Silicon Valley.
Mr. Good has been the recipient of several honors, including the Super Lawyers Rising Star and Northern California Rising Star awards in 2012. He was named as Police Officer of the Year by the Gilroy Exchange Club in both 1995 and 1996.
Mr. Good received his J.D. from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 2001. He also has a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from San Jose State University.
