Trustee Linda Piceno
Linda Piceno was elected to the Gilroy Unified Board of Education in November 2014. During her first term, she served as Board vice president and president. She also served as board president in 2018. She also served on the District Facilities Committee and the South County Youth Task Force. Linda continues to regularly join the Superintendent on her fall and spring school site visits. She is the current Board President and represents Trustee Area 4.
As a Gilroy Unified School District employee for 32 years, Linda served at all levels: elementary school, middle school, high school and district office. Her district positions included teacher, counselor, dean of students, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent. She has experience in curriculum, personnel, facilities and budget. Dedicated to the academic success of all children in Gilroy, Linda’s focus is on ensuring a rigorous curriculum for all students, quality staff, well-maintained facilities and a balanced budget.
Raised in a farm worker family that valued education, her parents, despite their own lack of diplomas, made sure all four of their children graduated from high school. Linda earned her bachelor’s degree (history) and teaching credential from CSU, Chico. While working at Gilroy High, she attended night and summer classes at San Jose State University for six years, earning a pupil personnel services credential, a master’s degree in guidance and counseling and an administrative services credential. Linda’s proudest accomplishments, however, are her two sons, Gabe and Peter. Both attended Gilroy Unified schools and graduated from Gilroy High School (Classes of 2002 and 2005) before going on to public universities.
